07.09.09Rundgang 09Please feel invited to join the final presentation of the SwarmLab project I hosted this semester at the University of Fine Arts. The presentation will take place 10.oo o clock next thursday at the project pavillon, next to the mathematics faculty. We will show twelve student works, related to swarm intelligence and swarm aestethics as well as excerpts of the keynote talks. There will be also possibilities to see the project while the UdK Rundgang from 17. - 19. july. The results of the Sketching in Space and Rapid Stool Invention projects will be presented too.

06.17.09snapshot udk 09 - revisitedAfter two weeks the DMY extended exhibition "Me You & I" will close tommorow evening. So you still have at least one full day left to visit it. The feedback so far is very good, not only the lamps attracted attention, the shelves, the installations and one of my favourites, the trikoton collection of hannah wiesener and magdalena kohler had been payed regard to. The opening with the attached panel discussion about "the shape of designer work to come" was quite interesting too, though it was a bit to long. 05.22.09snapshot udk 09We will present a selection of the spatial sketched lamps at the snapshot udk exhibition. As stated in the entries before, it will take place while the dmy festival here in berlin and is listed as one of the extended events. The opening will be on the 4th of june with a panel discussion on the future of designerly work in face of new media, new techniques, new economies. There will be interesting guests on panel, like Holm Friebe, Reto Wettach, Claudia Kieserling, Ronen Kadushin and Jörg Petruschat. 04.29.09Sketching in Space - finallyI am very glad to say that the presentation of the 'sketching in space' project was a great success. All the participating students made the presentation look and feel good for both sides: the presenters and the audience. The models of the threedimanional virtually made sketches had been printed via three different rapid prototyping techniques (sls, fdm, 3D-print). As allready stated, this project can be seen as a reply to the 2 year old viral video of the swedish design team front. 04.16.09a swarmThe new semester started this week and it will turn out again as a very interesting and challenging project. We opened up the SWARMLAB, a collaboration between the college of fine arts berlin, the T-Labs and the department for bionics and evolutionary technics. The aim is to create objects and concepts dealing with topics like swarm intelligence, swarm behaviour, interactive collaborative systems, online communities, self organizing and nonhierachic groups etc... 03.21.09FIELD IIAs last year there is a new field research book available. This years topic is media in public spaces, the ways of perception, intervention and interaction in and with urban environments. The book offers an impression of urban media by displaying primary cultural images and confront them with each other on 62 pages. I see and use it as a tool for inspiration and communication in design processes.

02.26.09… out of sightBack from UK. The TEI conference was amazing, so many smart and inspired people from nearly all over the world were gathering to present and discuss their news on tangible interfaces. Thanks to Nicolas Villar and his team for making it possible. If you want to know more about the conference and some beside impressions, just check the blog I wrote for Form+Zweck.
