12.03.10From Palma to EindhovenThis was a week. I accompanied the SMSlingshot through europe, starting in Palma de Mallorcas Contemporary Art Museum, where we showcased our work and held a talk about our "Act on hybrid Estates". The talk was extended with a short summary of the design process of the SMSlingshot. Pau Waelder held the introduction showing some very interesting, and some well known projects of digital art in public space. His resulting article can be seen here. 10.16.10SMSlingshot in ViennaLast week the VR/urban team was invited by Amnesty International to show the SMSlingshot at the Museumsquartier in Vienna. The occasion (Day of death penalty) was less delectable than the fact that a lot of people haved used their voice against capital punishment and death by right. We used background illustrations for the first time to better trigger a discourse in front of the facade and by this on the facade. There are also videos available: here and here.

09.29.10SMSlingshot at MediaLab PradoWe are back from a short but very intense and inspiring trip from Madrid. We had the opportunityto show the SMSlingshot during the white nights festival at the MediaLab Prado. It was the first time we used the new graphic engine and a LED facade as hardware. What to say?! It worked out very smoothly, no problems and the people enjoyed the performance very much. By far the best message that have been shot during the whole project. Thanks madrid, espacially carles, daniel, monica and nerea for making it possible!

07.19.10kicking the post out of modernFlights go on wednesday, nothing is packed, everything is dismantled and a slight feeling of stress is coming up. But as always everything will work fine and we´ll be standing at Tegel with three realtime working SMSlingshots ready to be shown at the museum of modern art Sao Paulo, a perfectly worked out keynote lecture for the FILE symposium and enough sound, books and happy vibes to stand the long flight to brazil. 07.19.10Rapid UP presentationHere are some snapshots from the groundation course presentation of this years summer term. The students were up to design an object that rises as high as possible from a one square meter plane of ply wood. The results were quite mingled but over all good. It is still not easy to learn how to make a moodboard, learn two different CAD softwares such as solid works and rhino with grasshopper in one time, plus a CAM software to mill the design afterwards. 07.13.10Rundgang 2010I cordially invite you to the UdK Rundgang of this summer term at the upcoming weekend . There will be two foundation course projects to be seen that I hosted this year and several other interesting objects, installations and performances. The Rapid Up and Rapid Volume project were about to learn CAD/CAM techniques at our milling machine and CNC laser router. You will find the project results at the faculty of design in the rooms 116a/117.

04.26.10Lesen und Lasern PresentationWhat an intensive week. The students were so much into reading and fighting the Flusser text, creating an own world with moodboards and bringing it back to the world with the laser router... and me right in the middle. All the results had been very discursive and became solid personal statements on design, society, nature and "ecology". I´m very sure torepeat this framework in the near future! We will soon update the project wiki to present all the ideas in a proper way. Until this gonna happen, here are some impressions of the process and the presentation.

04.21.10…Grab what they canThe SMSlingshot won the second prize at the Art of Engineering Award. We´ve been to Hannover Industry fair where the award was handed over. Strange situation, strange show, strange people but now we can go on in redesigning the installation and performance tools. Thanks to the LabBinaer guys for having so much fun anyway.
