The semester is done since three weeks already, so it´s time to show some of the results of the course i held with my colleague Wilm Fuchs. The aim of the project was to hack a bucket by engraving a pattern on it´s surrounding surface using Illustrator/Rhino4 for CAD and Cimatron for programming the milling machine. The students were amazingly quick in using and mixing the analog and digital tools. The buckets have been transformed into gridlike paper bins.
Second part of the project was to design a seat on a turned around bucket, that should also refer to the pattern on the former bucket. By analog mock-ups, 3D-scans and rhino rework a mould had to be created. This moulds has been milled and later poured with soft PU-foam, so that the resulting shape is soft and comfortably seatable.
