Key Notes and Posters

Recently I had the luck to visit some interesting symposiums to certain design and engineering topics.

The first one, the 3D modelling Symposium was in Berlin, exactly at the UDK, and about issues of advanced modelling with Rhino and other, more parametric applications. There has been stunning key note lectures, for example by Prof. Mark Burry about the collaboration of architects and craftsmen while the build-up of the sagrada familia in Barcelona. Interesting approaches in using and linking 3D software with analogue design and arts techniques.

Next to these topics Johann Habakuk israel presented the three-dimensional Sketching in a Key note to a professional audience.

In the same week a was attending the “Symposium für technisches Design” at the TU Dresden. I had the Chance to publish an article on threedimensional sketching in the especially for this occasion released book. A poster was to be seen as well.  The lectures weren´t that interesting, mainly because, the engineers, who were mostly speaking, aren´t the best entertainers. The best lecture was held by Rainer Groh, who was a Professor of me while my studies in Dresden and was kept in good memory because of his talking and teaching skills. The best one by far. One sad point to mention, is that a lot of people, like Winfried Hacker and Pierre Sachse, who were originally been announced to hold a lecture didn´t shew up. Anyway… i had some nice chats, met a few interesting people and had the chance to get a clue of how engineers think.
